The Sign For Kinch's Restaurant
Beautiful day outside Kinch’s Restaurant

The downtown portion of Rock Hill has gotten a much-needed facelift. This has rejuvenated the interest in business moving back to an area that was once thriving. Meanwhile, Rockhillians affectionately call the downtown area Old Town Rock Hill. Today we head to this historical downtown area of Rock Hill to try out some comfort food at Kinch’s Resturant.

Kinch’s Restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch during the week.

Kinch’s Restaurant is located on the corner of Black Street and Elks Ave. They share a public parking lot with McHales Irish Pub which we also reviewed a few weeks back. At the same time, they face different directions. Kinch’s is facing the parking lot while McHales faces Main St. Kinch’s Restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch during the week. Their hours are 7 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday and on Wednesday they offer dinner from 5 pm to 7 pm with a limited menu.

Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes, and fried squash from Kinch's Restaurant
Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, and fried squash

On this occasion, I ordered off the meat and two menu, which simply means you get a meat and two sides. I ordered meatloaf, fried squash, and mash potatoes with gravy. Once you order you grab your cup, get your drink, and then find your seat. Meanwhile, the waitress will bring your food out.

I love the bits of potatoes left in the mashed potatoes. To me, it adds a nice texture to the food.

Texas Pete on the table at Kinch's Restaurant

All of the food was great. I love the bits of potatoes left in the mashed potatoes. To me, it adds a nice texture to the food. The meatloaf was seasoned just perfectly. Also, I love a restaurant that has Texas Pete on the table. Texas Pete is my favorite hot sauce. Since it was there I had to dabble a little bit on my meatloaf. Finally, I would have to add that the squash was good but did need a pinch of salt. Otherwise, a perfect meal.

Make sure you check them out if you are in the Downtown area of Rock Hill, SC. I am sure you will not regret it. Also, if you are not in the mood for comfort food, their fried chicken is some of the best around. Watch our video below to see our experience at Kinch’s Restaurant.

They need to update website the prices on there are WAY off from what they really are and they charge you .47 to use debit card. It cost me almost $10 for a piece of chicken and 2 sides for lunch.

They have gone up on their prices from years past. I think food, in general, has gotten high. Most of the cheap places are higher now. I understand why they charge extra for the debit/credit card but the fact is the times have changed and that is part of doing business in this day and time. I still know some places that do not take credit or debit because of the charge. I honestly do not think they should pass it on to the customer, though. Why not offer an incentive for the customer to bring cash? Like a 5% discount if you pay with cash. Thanks for your comment!
