According to their website, Ashe County Cheese manufacturing was started in 1930 by Kraft Corporation. It has exchanged hands a few times and ended up in the hands of two gentlemen from Wisconsin. Trip Advisor even has them ranked as the number one thing to do in Ashe County.

Ashe County Cheese Inc. is manufacturing many different types of cheese and butter. One of the more popular choices is its sienna cheese. Across the street, there is a retail store that carries all of the cheese choices that the company produces. They also carry many other home goods that I am sure you will enjoy. Some of the other products include meats like country ham and locally made snack sticks, jams, jelly, honey, and candy.
